Coolbatts functions as Thermal Insulation for homes. The term Thermal Insulation refers to materials used to reduce the rate of heat transfer. Thermal Insulation is the method of preventing heat from escaping a container or from entering the container. In other words, thermal insulation can keep an enclosed area such as building warm or it can keep the inside of a container cold.

Coolbatts is designed to minimize three types of heat flow. It is made from rock, which is a very poor conductor of heat; it contains millions of tiny isolated air pockets which traps the heat and virtually eliminate heat transfer by convection; and the many fibres restrict the passage of heat by radiation.

Without Coolbatts, heat passes from outside through the roof, ceiling and walls of your house, making it as hot or even hotter inside your house than outside. With Coolbatts insulation installed in the ceiling of your house, you will stop up to 70% of heat form flowing in and keep your house significantly cooler. If you are building a new home and therefore have the opportunity to insulate the walls, then this heat flow can also be reduced by up to 70%.
